York: Former Lt. Scott Brunson promoted to rank of captain

    Statesboro Police Chief Stan York recently announced the promotion of former Lt. Scott Brunson to the rank of captain.
    “The Statesboro Police Department is proud to announce the promotion,” he said.
    Brunson was promoted to captain July 2, and was reassigned as commander of  the department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), overseeing a host of detectives and other officers.
    “I feel Scott will be an asset to our department, as well as our community, serving in his current capacity,” York said.
    Brunson, a Statesboro native and graduate of Statesboro High School Class of 1985, began his career with the Statesboro Police Department in 1989 as a patrolman, moving through the ranks to his most recent promotion.
    Brunson has extensive law enforcement training including the following: graduate of the 206th Session of the FBI National Academy; Graduate of the 19th Session of the FBI Southeastern Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar; and graduate of the 9th Session of the Professional Management Program sponsored by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and Columbus State University.
