A woman was injured Thursday in a crash that occurred while she was fleeing from a Georgia State Patrol trooper, according to Georgia State Patrol Senior Trooper D. H. Averitt.
Nicole Donaldson, 26, Foxlake Drive, reached speeds over 125 miles per hour, said Senior Trooper Earl Anderson, with Swainsboro Georgia State Patrol Post 19.
Donaldson was speeding, doing 75 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone, when he tried to stop her near Twin City, he said.
She did not stop and increased her speed, and Anderson gave chase. Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 45 in Statesboro, which covers Bulloch, Candler and Evans counties, responded to the call for assistance, as well as Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies, Averitt said.
The woman crashed into an 18-wheeler in Hopeulikit near the intersection where U.S. 80 joins U.S. 25, he said. The truck driver, who has not yet been identified, was not injured.
Anderson said charges are pending. Averitt said Donaldson’s condition was not available Thursday evening but said she was conscious and alert. Additional details will be available later today, he said.
