A tip from a concerned citizen led Metter police to arrest a woman on methamphetamine charges Tuesday.
Maggie Leann Napier, 33, of an undisclosed address in Metter, was charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute and giving a false name to law enforcement, Metter Police Chief Dennis Nelson said in a statement released Wednesday.
Metter police, as well as Candler County sheriff's deputies and agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office acted on a tip Tuesday and located Napier at the American Inn Hotel on South Lewis Street in Metter, Nelson said. Napier is currently being held at the Candler County Jail.
An undisclosed amount of meth was seized during the investigation, Nelson said.
"Information received directly from a concerned citizen led us to make this arrest," the chief said. "Without the support of our community it would be more difficult for law enforcement officers to make arrests and remove these dangerous drugs off the streets."
