Two Aspen Heights residents were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning by two assailants, one of whom pistol-whipped a victim, said Statesboro police Community Information Specialist Madison Warren.
Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, two unknown men entered the victims' unlocked apartment and demanded one victim's wallet and cellphone, she said.
The suspects then woke the second victim, attacking him by striking him with the butt of a pistol, according to Warren.
After the suspects left, the first victim drove the second, injured victim to a friend's house. The friend then took the two to the hospital, where the injured man was treated for serious head wounds, she said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Statesboro police at (912)764-9911.
