A man with a gun robbed a U.S. 301 South restaurant Tuesday night, fleeing after he was given money. No one was injured in the robbery, said Statesboro Police Capt. Scott P. Brunson.

A heavyset black male, wearing all black clothing except for a blue ski mask, walked through a door at the rear of Uncle Shug's Chicken Barn around 8:45 p.m., flashed a "small, bright-colored" hand gun, and demanded cash, he said.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled from the restaurant, leaving in an unknown direction, he said.

The suspect stood about 5'8" tall and weighed 250 pounds or more, Brunson said.

Statesboro Police responded to the scene immediately after receiving the call about the robbery, but no suspect was found in the area. Statesboro Police Det. Tommy Brown also responded and launched an investigation, he said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Brown at 912-212-2304 or the Statesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 912-764-1542.
