Two separate armed robberies within two hours at an apartment complex near Georgia Southern University Saturday are likely unrelated, according to reports.
The first incident was reported around 8:23 p.m., and the male victim said two men, armed with a handgun, robbed him of his wallet and cell phone near Stadium Place Apartments. They both approached him, and one pointed a gun at his side, demanding money. The victim was unharmed, reports said.
Just over an hour and a half later, another robbery occurred inside a Stadium Place apartment, police said.
Around 10:07 p.m., another male victim told police two men invaded his home, flashed a gun and struck him in the head. The offenders took $17, three bottles of Parrot Bay Mojito alcoholic beverages, and his cell phone.
Then, the two men, described in reports only as black males, forced the victim into a closet and "trapped" him inside by shoving furniture against the door, according to reports.
However, after the offenders left, the victim pushed his way out of the closet and fled to a nearby restaurant, where he called police.
The victims of both armed robberies were unharmed.
Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to call Statesboro Police Det. Terry Briley at 764-1542 or the Statesboro Police Department at 764-9911. All calls will remain confidential.
