A drive-by shooting Monday didn't result in injury, but did cause two men to find themselves behind bars on felony aggravated assault charges.
Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams said complainants called about gunshots fired "in the area of Jones Mill Road between Veteran's Memorial Parkway and Beasley Road"  Monday, and several officers including Statesboro Police Det. Ken Scott responded to the area to investigate.
A victim told officers " a light-colored small car drove towards him and (someone in the car) fired multiple gun shots from the driver's side window and then from the passenger window as he fled to the other side of the street," Williams said.
The victim was not struck by the shots and was unharmed, he said.
Scott launched an investigation and collected evidence at the scene, then later located a vehicle at Mill Run Apartments that matched the description the victim gave, he said.
Two men found in the area were identified as suspects, and "evidence collected ... " led to their arrest in connection with the shots fired, he said.
Juan Hernandez Martinez, 23, and Garcia Narciso Mendoza, 20, both of Mill Run Apartments, were charged with felony aggravated assault, Williams said.
Martinez and Mendoza are being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail, according to jail records.
