The arrest of a woman Wednesday on drug trafficking charges follows the arrest of another man on similar charges at the same location two weeks earlier.

Bulloch County Crime Suppression Team members, as well as criminal investigators and road deputies, served a search warrant Wednesday at 107 West Lake Drive in Statesboro, seizing over $40,000 in drugs as well as vehicles and firearms, said Bulloch County Sheriff Noel Brown in a statement released Friday.

Monica Jiminez, 21, of Highway 280 in Claxton, was charged with several offenses during the investigation. Bulloch County CST Investigator Jim Riggs said her arrest followed that of Jamie Elton Newsome, 39, of Westlake Drive, on similar charges earlier this month.

“Over the past several months, CST investigators have been conducting a narcotics investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine, along with various prescription pills,” he said. The drugs seized were hydrocodone, oxycodone “and other pills that are sold and used illegally.”

Law enforcement agents seized more than 1,000 pills of hydrocodone, oxycodone and codeine, as well as about a pound of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale, he said.

The pills had an estimated street value of about $12,000, while the street value of the methamphetamine was around $32,000, he said.

Deputies also confiscated three firearms, three vehicles and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Jiminez is charged with trafficking methamphetamines, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule III controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

Newsome was charged with possession of amphetamines, manufacturing methamphetamines, possession/use of a drug-related object, obstruction and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Both Jiminez and Newsome are being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail. Further arrests are pending continued investigation, Brown said.
