Investigations into a rash of recent utility trailer thefts in several counties led to the arrest of two suspects Tuesday, Metter Police Chief Dennis Nelson said.Dashwan R. Williams, 20, and Cherie L. Smith, 45, both of unspecified addresses in Metter, were charged Tuesday with theft by receiving stolen property.Investigator Justin Wells, who is handling the case, said additional charges are possible.Nelson said the thefts occurred in Metter as well as locations in Candler, Bulloch, Evans and Emanuel counties, and possibly in South Carolina. “These cases were jointly investigated by (several) Georgia agencies,” he said. “As of the time of this release, there have been 15 stolen trailers identified.
