The weather was cold and rainy Thursday, but that's not the reason law enforcement found a Twin City man soaked and chilled, needing rescue. George Archer, 62, struck a deer Thursday afternoon and then lost control of his truck, running into a pond near Portal. Around 1 p.m. Thursday, Georgia State Patrol troopers and Bulloch County sheriff's deputies responded to calls and found Archer standing on top of his 2013 Ford F-150, which was partially submerged in about 5 feet of water, said GSP Trooper 1st Class Blake Hendrix.
