Traffic plan set for Swing into Spring at Mill Creek Park
Festivities begin at 4 p.m.; fireworks will follow 20 minutes after ceremonies end

    The Eighth Annual Swing into Spring event complete with fireworks and a parade of athletes is set to kick off the recreation department’s baseball and softball season today at Mill Creek Park.
    The festivities begin at 4 p.m. with inflatable games, karaoke and other activities taking place at Field One. Exhibition games between rec teams begin at 5:30 p.m. The parade of players begins about 7:45 p.m. and fireworks will follow about 20 minutes after the ceremonies end.
    The traffic plan is as follows:
    After 8:30 p.m., the back entrance to Mill Creek Park will be used for exiting only. No traffic will be allowed to enter nor exit at the main entrance during the  fireworks display.
    After the fireworks, traffic exiting out of the main park entrance will be directed left onto Highway 24 and will go straight to the by-pass for access to Highways 80 and 301.      
    Traffic exiting out of the back exit will turn right onto Brannen Road and then left onto Beasley Road to Highway 80.
     Once all cars have exited from Mill Creek Regional Park traffic from Mill Creek Elementary will be directed right onto Beasley Road to Highway 80. Traffic exiting from Bible Baptist, Trinity Church, and Barnes Lumber will be directed right onto Highway 24 to the by-pass for access to Highways 80 and 301.  
     Exiting preference will be given to people parked in designated areas within Mill Creek Regional Park.
    In the event that league games, the parade of athletes, opening ceremonies and the fireworks are canceled due to rain, the parade and ceremonies will take place on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Check online at www.bullochrec.com or call the hotline at (912) 489-2087 to see if any events are postponed.
