Statesboro Police have three men in custody they said were involved in a shooting Saturday that left one dead and two injured.
Investigators are not yet releasing the third suspect's identity, said Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams. The case remains active and investigators were still collecting evidence and questioning the suspects late Wednesday, he said.
Two of the men in custody are Bryan Lazarus Hughley, 35, and  Marcus Maurice Benbow, 39, both of Waycross. The three are suspected in the shooting death of Corey Oneil Walker, 21, and the shooting of Chalandria McClouden, 30, and James L. Williams, 43, both of Statesboro, he said.
Capt. Williams said additional details will be available Thursday.
Walker was pronounced dead after arrival Saturday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. McClouden and Williams were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where they are listed in stable he said.
Georgia Bureau of Investigations crime lab autopsy reports state Walker was struck twice, once in the stomach area and once in the upper torso and list his death as a homicide.
Statesboro Police Det. Tommy Brown, who along with Det. James Winskey is leading the investigation, said McClouden suffered injury from bullet fragments and Williams was shot twice.
Brown said the shootings possibly stemmed from a robbery attempt, and said the suspects are believed to have come from Waycross to Statesboro intending to purchase drugs.
