Two Claxton teens are behind bars after a Metter woman was attacked and her car was stolen.
The woman suffered facial injuries when two masked males attacked her around 1:45 a.m. May 13, said Metter police Chief Robert Shore.
Friday, officers arrested Decaprio Rock, 17, and a 15-year-old juvenile, both of Claxton.
The 15-year-old was charged with aggravated battery and second-degree motor vehicle hijacking. Rock was charged with second-degree motor vehicle hijacking and remains in the Candler County Jail, while the younger teen was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice, Shore said.
The female victim told police she was injured when her car was "taken by force" by two unidentified males. She was taken by EMS to Candler County Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
Police began searching for the two suspects after she gave them descriptions. The car they stole was easily identifiable as a gold 2003 Ford Taurus with "a large Batman sticker in the back window and a Star Wars sticker on the left rear bumper," Shore said in a released statement after the attack occurred.
Witnesses said the car had been last seen on West Broad Street, and one of the suspects was seen running from the area, he said.
With assistance from the Evans County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Metter police gathered evidence and located the suspects, taking them into custody.
"The Metter Police Department continues to investigate this case and requests that if anyone has any information pertaining to this case, they are asked to contact Sgt. Tim Platt at (912) 685-5437," Shore said.
