Suspect turns self in after hit and run

            A man police said struck a pedestrian at a local bar and restaurant fled the scene, leaving the victim behind with slight injuries to his heels after being struck by the car's tires, police said.

            Witnesses at the University Plaza location told officers they saw the hit-and-run, and saw the tires strike the victim's heels. The man was taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment.

             Statesboro Police were called to Retriever's Bar and Grill around 12:23 a.m. Sunday regarding reports of the hit and run. Witnesses gave officers a description of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

            Later Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m., Richard Paul Reeves, 27, Clark Street, Portal, voluntarily came to the Statesboro Police Department and turned himself in, police reports stated.

            Reeves was charged with hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he later posted  a property bond, according to jail records.
