Claxton police are seeking a suspect who pulled off a quiet armed robbery while unaware customers shopped.

Around 11 a.m. Wednesday, a black man wearing “large sunglasses” and a gray hoodie approached the cash register at the Dollar General in Claxton, holding a set of hair trimmers, said Claxton police Chief Dale Kirkland.

While other customers shopped and a deliveryman walked past, the suspect pulled out a gray revolver, pointed it at the clerk and demanded all the cash in the register, he said.

“It was pretty low key, pretty quiet,” he said. “She had to ring it (the trimmers) up to open the register, and he made her put all the cash in a Dollar General bag, and then he fled on foot.”

The suspect got away with about $170 cash as well as the hair trimmers, he said.

No one was injured in the armed robbery.

Kirkland asked that anyone with information on the suspect call the Claxton Police Department at (912) 739-2121 or text a message to (912) 334-6228.
