A bystander caught a shoplifting arrest on video Saturday as one of four suspects drove away leaving behind a fellow suspect as he and a police officer were leaning against the car.
Three suspects involved in the felony shoplifting incident at Belk Saturday were jailed, but warrants were issued for the woman who fled, Tracy Delaine Kirkland, 37, Red Oak Road, Swainsboro.
Statesboro police were taking Jordan Alexander Silas, 21, King Circle Drive. Swainsboro into custody Saturday when Juwaun Rashawn Watkins recorded the incident on video, which has been circulated on social media.
The video shows unidentified officers standing near a dark-colored four door car at the Statesboro Mall with Silas being taken into custody. As one officer begins to handcuff Silas, another approaches the driver of the car just as she pulls away, leaving the other officer and Silas scrambling for footing.
Statesboro Police Public Information Specialist Madison Bridges said Kirkland was the driver of the car.
Police responded to Belk Saturday to the shoplifting call, where Jordan Silas, Kirkland, Ashia Lashonda Gordon and Ginair Michelle Silas were all reported to have shoplifted “a shopping cart full” of clothing, she said.
The group allegedly took several Polo shirts, pairs of shorts, hats and socks valued at $2,397, and did not pay for the items, she said.
Ashia Lashondra Gordon, 20, South 2nd Street, Twin City, was arrested on charges of felony theft by shoplifting, obstruction and possession of tools for a crime. Police found wire cutters, scissors and a prying tool in a bag in her possession, Bridges said.
Jordan Silas and Ginair Michelle Silas, 23, 7th Street, Swainsboro, were each charged with felony theft by shoplifting and obstruction.
All three suspects were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they await further court appearances. Anyone with information about Kirkland’s whereabouts is asked to contact Statesboro oleic at (912) 764-9911.
