Suspect arrested in June 1 robbery

Statesboro police arrested a man on Sunday who is suspected in an armed robbery committed June 1. Ronald Thomas Wells, 25, of Lanier Drive, is being held in the Bulloch County Jail on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and first-degree burglary, according to jail records. Cpl. Travis Smallegan was on an unrelated call for service at Eagle Villa Suites on Sunday when he recognized Wells and arrested him for an active warrant without incident, according to a press release from Statesboro police Deputy Chief Rob Bryan, interim chief.
