So you’re looking for something to do this weekend in Statesboro, and next week, you have some relatives visiting who really want to check out the Lucas Theatre in Savannah, one of whom is also a history buff who wants to learn a little about Georgia’s past.
Looks like you’ll be spending plenty of time online or on the phone trying to track down what you want to do and how to entertain family members.
Or, you can go to statesboroherald.com, click on the “Entertainment” tab at the top of the website and find what you’re looking for in one place.
A new local and regional calendar is now available on statesboroherald.com that will allow you to find a huge variety of entertainment and events not only in Statesboro, but also Savannah and as far away as Macon and Hilton Head.
“We know people are busy and we wanted to give them a calendar that makes it easy to find events that may interest them without having to surf the Internet,” said Jim Healy, operations manager for the Statesboro Herald. “Our goal is to make it a one-stop calendar destination. There are tons of events on it right now and we look to add a lot more.”
Following the example from the first paragraph, in Statesboro this weekend there is live music at Locos on Saturday, while on Thursday the Velvet Cabaret Show comes to the Lucas Theatre in Savannah and Georgia’s Old Capital Museum in Milledgeville is holding Artifact Idea Day on Saturday.
The above are just three of countless events listed in the Herald website’s new calendar. It is easily searchable for events by date, location, category or keywords, so if you’re not sure what you are looking for, it can help you pinpoint an event.
Check the calendar out now by going to: http://statesboroherald.com/events/#/
The new calendar allows you to save a list of your favorite events coming up so you don’t forget and you can easily share events with your family and friends by sharing on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.
The calendar also is very mobile friendly and is easily readable on your smart phone or tablet. You can create an icon on your phone or tablet, as well. On the calendar website, follow the instructions to get the icon link.
Events can be posted on the calendar by individuals, groups and organizations at no charge. However, the calendar offers options to highlight an event to ensure the largest audience possible will see it.
“One of the areas we believe we can help local venues or organizations get more attention for their events is not only to put it on the calendar for free, but really draw attention to the event by featuring events at the top of the listings and on the home page for a small charge,” Healy said. “We also can get your event highlighted across the southeast Georgia region on the websites of our sister publications in Savannah, Hinesville, Richmond Hill and Rincon. We really can get your event in front of a huge audience in southeast Georgia.
“We now can give our community access to the best local and regional calendar in the area.”
