SPD: Man dressed in womans clothes steals car

A man wearing women’s clothing stole a Jeep from a local used car dealership, leaving another stolen vehicle behind, sad Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner.A man later identified as Lemar Neil Robinson, 23, Springfield, drove up to Car City on South Main Street around 5 p.m. Thursday and asked about a silver 2006 Jeep Commander, he said.Robinson was wearing women’s clothing, witnesses said. He asked to test drive he Jeep, but when he failed to return with the vehicle, Car City employees called police, he said.Police officers and investigators responded to the scene and learned vehicle he left at the scene had been stolen from Chatham County.“Robinson is currently wanted for felony theft by conversion,” he said. “Anyone with information about Robinson is asked to contact the Statesboro Police.
