A juvenile accidently discharged a firearm while handling it in the backseat of a vehicle traveling through Jenkins County, striking and killing his mother. GBI Special Agent in Charge Bill Bodrey said the family was returning home Friday afternoon to Jacksonville, Fla., from Waynesboro in Burke County when the gun went off, which struck 35-year-old Tarina Ferguson of Jacksonville in the back. After the gun discharged at a location somewhere in Jenkins County, the vehicle stopped at J&T Minit Mart on Highway 25 at Rocky Ford Road around 2:45 p.m. Friday, said Bulloch County sheriff’s Capt. Tod Hutchens.
