A man sought in connection to a shooting death on Friday now faces further charges, including murder. Police added charges after he was extradited back to the Bulloch County Jail from another state, where he was apprehended.

Tai-ri Darnell Crocker, 33, of Wendell Street in Atlanta, was located and taken into custody late Friday in South Carolina, wanted on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Statesboro police Community Information Specialist Madison Warren said Crocker was wanted in connection to the Friday morning homicide of Jeffrey Lee Raymond, 34, of Statesboro.

An earlier report listed Crocker as being from Lithia Springs, but the Bulloch County Jail listed him Tuesday as having the Atlanta address. Detectives also charged him with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, according to jail reports.

Around 6 a.m. Friday, police swarmed the Baymont Inn & Suites on South Main Street after the shooting occurred. Warren said Raymond was reportedly shot on the fourth floor and made his way to the lobby, where someone called 911. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries, said Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch.

Raymond's body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Savannah on Friday, and an autopsy was performed on Monday. Futch said on Tuesday that Raymond died from two gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
