Two weeks after an armed robbery at Eagle Gate Apartments in Statesboro, police arrested a second man they say is responsible for the crime.
Johnathan Corneil Paulk, 19, of Bay Street, faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, first-degree felony burglary and felony probation violation, according to information from the Bulloch County Jail.
Statesboro Police Deputy Chief Rob Bryan, interim chief, said the armed robbery occurred on July 1 but was not reported until July 4. Another suspect they said was involved in the robbery, Earick Harvey, was arrested previously, he said. Police arrested Henry after responding to a report of a man with a gun at the apartments.
However, upon further investigation by Detective Kevin Wadley, he "identified Johnathan Paulk as an additional offender in the ... armed robbery and secured warrants for Paulk's arrest," Bryan said. Thursday, "Detective Wadley, Cpl. Travis Smallegan and Advanced Patrol Officer Justin Gawthrop located and arrested Paulk at a residence on Bay Street without incident."
Paulk was taken to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action. The case remains under investigation.
