A vehicle suspected to have been involved in a hit-and-run death Sunday, Jan. 4, in Savannah might be in Bulloch County.

According to media reports, Peter J. Meyers was driving from Vermont to Florida when he was struck by a vehicle on as he walked across Abercorn Street during a stop for dinner.

The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office posted an alert on its Facebook page Thursday stating that the "older model silver/grey Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban with extensive front end damage, was observed driving on (Veterans Memorial Parkway) near Westside Road.

Witnesses told authorities the vehicle "traveled out Westside Road away from Statesboro," and "indicated that the driver appeared to be a Hispanic male," the Facebook post states. Anyone with information about the suspected vehicle is asked to contact the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office dispatch at (912) 764-1771 or submit an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com.

Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson reminds people to, "Please bear in mind that there may be multiple similar vehicles in the area and we encourage callers to use discretion in contacting the dispatch line."

If you see a vehicle matching the description, Anderson asks that callers submit tag numbers when making calls or submitting tips.
