Saddle Up St. Jude Trail Ride set for Saturday

     A trail ride, horse races, silent auction and more will be held Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 at Kennedy Farms in Cobbtown to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
    You don’t have to have a horse to enjoy the Saddle Up St. Jude Trail Ride and Family Fun Day. ATVs are welcome, and bring your rod and reel, because there are plenty of fish in  the pond.
    For $10 a day per rider, the fees cover supper Friday (a fish fry) and lunch Saturday.
    The event will raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the premier center for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Bring your kids, a horse or two, an ATV or just yourselves for a weekend of fun to help kids with fatal diseases.
    There will be music, games, and lots of other fun things to do. Relax in your tent, ride your horse around the property, enjoy the evening’s entertainment Friday evening or get together for the big ride Saturday morning, starting at 8:30 a.m.
    Any donations are welcome. You don’t have to ride horses to help the children - come out for the food, fun and entertainment and donate what you are able. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

    Friday’s events begin at 6 p.m. with a fish fry, and entertainment by the Do Good DJ’s (www.dogooddjs.com) will last until 8 p.m.
    Camping is available including RV hook-ups (110 & 220).
    Horseback riders will hit the trails at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and enjoy a beautiful trail ride until around noon, when lunch is served. The rest of the afternoon will be filled with old fashioned family fun including live gospel music by the Christian Bells and The Brothers in Christ.
     Kids will enjoy games and face painting. There will be horse races and much more, including a silent auction with quality items including a gift basket by Cathryn Glasford with Passion Parties;  a  Pat Parelli Success Series DVD Set;  a hardcover book “The American Paint Horse: A Photographic Portrayal;  A matching tack set — saddle pad, headstall, roper reins, and tie-down; Plenty Star Ranch Gift Certificate for the participation of one person for five days in any of Plenty Star Ranch Natural Horsemanship clinics in 2009 in South Dakota; Girls’ Night Time set — set includes plush palomino play rug, pillow in purse, mule slippers, and two plush horses; a “Last of the Indian Ponies”; a Trail of Painted Ponies Autumn sculpture, and more.
