Beautiful spring weather and huge crowds greeted the first annual Statesboro Kiwanis Rodeo when it rode into town for two shows last weekend.
People even sat on the ground to watch cowboys bust broncs, cowgirl barrel racers turn and burn, and bulls do their best to rid themselves of clinging riders.
"We will discuss increasing the arena size and seating for next year," Rodeo chairman Don Poe said.
The crowd gasped when a bareback rider slid several feet after hitting the ground, and giggled at a rodeo clown's jokes.
Some spread blankets on the ground on front of the bleachers and when about 50 kids chased a startled calf in an effort to grab a ribbon from its tail, everyone roared with laughter.
