Robbery suspect arrested minutes after holdup
Linked to previous robberies
Christopher Antwoine Wilson

Bulloch County deputies arrested a man early Wednesday morning, just minutes after he robbed a Jimmy John's delivery driver.

Further investigation revealed that Christopher Antwoine Wilson, 19, of Garden District Apartments in Statesboro, is also linked to the recent robberies of two other food delivery drivers in the area, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a statement released Wednesday.

Wilson is also believed to be responsible for armed robberies last week of another delivery driver for Jimmy John's, as well as one from Don Corleone's Pizza, Anderson said. Those two incidents took place within the Statesboro city limits.

Around 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, sheriff's patrol deputies were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Thomkin Drive in Statesboro in response to an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The first responding deputy spoke with a Jimmy John's delivery driver, who said she had been followed to Thomkin Drive by a suspicious vehicle. She said that after making her delivery, a black male brandished a stun gun, threatened to stun her, then robbed her of a quantity of money, Anderson said.

The driver and other witnesses in the neighborhood gave deputies a description of the suspect and vehicle, a white, four-door car.

Just three minutes later, at 1:58 a.m., Deputy Clay Williams spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling away from the scene, back into the city on Lanier Drive. Williams stopped the car and contacted the driver, identified as Wilson, Anderson said.

A search of the vehicle revealed the stun gun, the money taken from the restaurant driver and other evidence, according to the release.

Wilson was arrested and charged with armed robbery and taken to the Bulloch County Jail.

Wilson also is suspected in the robbery of a Don Corleone pizza delivery driver July 8 at Cambridge-at-Southern Apartments, in which a stun gun also was used, according to reports.

He also is suspected of robbing another Jimmy John's driver July 17 at Cambridge at Southern, reports state.
He has not been linked to two other previous robberies of delivery drivers, Statesboro police Maj. Scott Brunson said.

A Domino's Pizza driver was robbed at Seasons Apartments July 18, and a #1 Chinese delivery driver was robbed July 9 on Rountree Street, according to Statesboro police reports.

Anderson commended Williams and other responding patrol deputies for apprehending the suspect within 3 minutes of the 911 call reporting the robbery.

"The arrest of Wilson brings to an end this series of armed robberies and is yet another example of cooperation between both law enforcement agencies," Anderson said.
Statesboro police detectives are still investigating the robberies of the Domino's and #1 Chinese delivery drivers, Brunson said.
