A $1,500 reward is being offered by the Statesboro Police Department for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a suspect responsible for shooting and killing a Savannah man Wednesday at Campus Crossings Apartments in Statesboro. Thursday, Statesboro police identified the murder victim as Vernon Lamont Hunter, 24, of Savannah. After hearing shots fired around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers near the Lanier Drive apartment complex found Hunter with a gunshot wound, said Statesboro Police Deputy Chief Rob Bryan, interim chief.
