Qualifying for Mayor and five council seats in Register ended on Friday with only one seat contested.
Running unopposed for Mayor is James Oates Sr.  Oates served two four-year terms as Mayor beginning in 1998, and says his record speaks for itself.
“Let’s get out and do the work,” says Oates.  “Let’s keep a team together that will do what’s right for Register.”
Four of five council seats are unopposed.  Qualifying candidates for these council seats are Donnie Roberts, Donald Kiltz, John Foster Williams III and Ann Ross.
Qualifying for council seat number three are two candidates, Barbara Rushing Threatt and Kevin C. Boyd.
The general election will be held Nov. 3, 2009.
