The Open Hearts Community Mission invites the public to attend a “Make Your Mark” event, at 3 p.m. Sunday at its homeless shelter site at 201 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive to embed the unfinished shelter with scriptures. The community is encouraged to bring permanent markers, pens or crayons and write scripture verses on the framing or foundation during the event. The framing of the future homeless shelter is complete and roof trusses are currently being built.“The scriptures we put inside the Mission will last forever,” said Rev. Jim Lewis, Open Hearts Community Mission executive director.
