A reportedly homeless man with Portal connections is missing, and Portal police Chief Jason Sapp hopes someone can help locate him.

David Jakob Johnson, 22, formerly of Portal, was last seen on Dec. 28, Sapp said.

Johnson is believed to have been living in a homeless camp behind Statesboro’s Kmart. He had a routine of stopping at the McDonald’s and GATE convenience store, both on Northside Drive East in Statesboro, on a daily basis, but he has not been seen in weeks, Sapp said.

He has family members in Portal.

Johnson stands about 6 feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has brown wavy hair and brown eyes and slight facial scarring, he said.

Johnson once had a cellphone but has not answered it since he went missing, and efforts to use the phone to locate him were not successful, Sapp said.

Anyone with information on Johnson is asked to call the Portal Police Department at (912) 865-5330 or Bulloch County sheriff’s dispatch at (912) 764-8888.
