Portal Police and Bulloch County Sheriff's investigators are seeking suspects in the theft of four vehicles Monday from Lovett's Auto Sales on U.S. 80 West.
Portal Police Chief Jason Sapp said at least four suspects jumped a fence and took four vehicles - a green 1993 Ford Explorer, a silver 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse, a white 2001 Chrysler Sebring convertible and a silver 1996 Lincoln Continental.
One suspect drove the Explorer through the chain link fence, and the others followed, he said. All four vehicles were recovered - three were found under a bridge in the Fish Trap community near Portal while the Explorer was located on Rocky Ford Road.
Two other cars were stolen from Earnest F. Lovett at his Old Dill Road residence Wednesday, Sapp said.
Bulloch County Sheriff's reports list a white Lincoln Town car and a white Ford F-150 taken from the driveway. The car was recovered in Statesboro Thursday, Statesboro Police said.
Anyone with information regarding the thefts is asked to call Sapp at 865-2352 or Inv. Walter Deal at the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department at 764-8888.
