Police seize drugs, stolen gun; arrest two

Police seized an assortment of illegal drugs and a stolen gun Thursday, arresting two men on various charges.

“The Statesboro Police Department’s Impact Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the Cambridge the Palms apartment complex” said Madison Warren, Statesboro police community information specialist.

During the search officers discovered “quantities of marijuana, Ecstasy, various prescription drugs, drug related objects." 

Police charged Justin Keon Smith, 19, Lanier Drive, with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of MDMA (Ecstasy) with intent to distribute; possession of Schedule II drug with intent to distribute; possession of Schedule IV drug with intent to distribute; possession of a drug related object and tampering with evidence – felony.

Also charged is Rakeem Romon Hightower, 22, Lanier Drive, arrested for charges of theft by receiving stolen property; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; possess/distribution/sale of dangerous drug; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of MDMA (Ecstasy) with intent to distribute; possession of Schedule IV drug with intent to distribute; possession of drug related object and wanted person.

Both Hightower, originally from Moultrie, and Smith, originally from Valdosta, were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they await bond, she said.
