An Inman Lane man had a frightening experience Tuesday night when three men invaded his home, assaulted him and robbed him at gunpoint, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
Around 11 p.m., three unidentified men entered the victim’s  home and beat him, he said. Then, one man shoved a hand gun into his mouth and “ dared him to call police,” he said.
The suspects all beat the man and kicked him, but the victim’s injuries were not serious enough for him to be taken to the hospital, York said.
The suspects took $200 from the victim, as well as a set of keys that also had a small knife attached, he said.
After the suspects took the man’s money, they fled the scene. Police reports did not list a description of the offenders.
The victim did call police after the offenders left, in spite of their warning not to do so, he said.
Responding officers turned the case over to Statesboro Police Det. Ken Scott, who launched an investigation and collected evidence at the scene, York said.
Anyone with information regarding the home invasion robbery or the suspects is asked to contact Scott at (912) 764-1542, he said. All calls will remain confidential.
