Police report -9-17-17; Euthanized at animal shelter 13 dogs and 19 cats

    NORTH BROAD STREET — Police responded to a theft by shoplifting incident.
    SOUTH LEWIS STREET - While responding to a disorderly conduct call, officers found a person to be in possession of cocaine.
    NORTH LEROY STREET — Someone reported an automobile break-in.
    ELMER STREET — Police responded to a report of theft.

    Surrendered by citizens — three dogs and 12 cats from rural areas;  no dogs and no cats from City of Statesboro.
    Collected by humane officers — six dogs and no cats from rural areas; one dog and two cats from City of Statesboro.
    Adopted from shelter — six dogs and two cats.
    Taken in by rescue organizations — 12 dogs and eight cats.
    Reclaimed by owners —no animals.
    Died at shelter — one dog and one cat
    Euthanized — eight dogs and one puppy (two abandoned by owners due to aggression; one surrendered with severe aggression, one with behavioral issues, one with severe skin issues, one very old and sick, two with aggression and skin issues): and 11 cats (feral; or sick).

    Euthanized — three dogs (three were feral, rescue could not pull) and 10 puppies (two litters were sick); and 19 cats (feral).
