Police: Facebook tip leads to 3 arrests
Chessaney Young

A tip from citizens after police posted a suspect’s photo on Facebook led to three arrests for automobile break-ins.
Chessaney Young, 21, of Amanda Drive in Lithonia; Morgan Owens, 21, of Lanier Drive; and Nicole Edwards, 20, also of Lanier Drive, were all arrested Friday on entering auto charges.
Edwards also faces two counts of financial transaction card fraud.
Police responded to a call on West Main Street around 5:30 p.m. April 6, when a woman said her purse, including a credit card, was taken from her vehicle.
“She stated that when she contacted her bank to cancel the card she was informed that it had been used at least twice since it was taken,” Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said.
Detective Keith Holloway was able obtain security video footage from the locations where the card was used,  and screen shots of the suspect on the video were posted on the Statesboro Police Department’s Facebook page, Turner said.
“Within two hours, a citizen who had seen the post contacted Holloway with information on the identity of the suspect, who was then arrested along with two associates,” Turner said.
Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Holloway at (912) 764-9911. Tips may also be anonymously submitted too or by sending the text  “TIPSSPD” followed by your message to 274637 (CRIMES). All information is strictly confidential.
