Statesboro police continue to search for a man who held up a Subway at gunpoint early Thursday.

Police responded to the restaurant on Lanier Drive at 1:33 a.m. Thursday in reference to an armed robbery, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a new release issued Friday morning.

A black male wearing all black clothing entered the Subway with a firearm and demanded that an employee give him the money from the cash register. The employee complied, and then the offender ran off, police said.

When Statesboro police officers arrived, they conducted a comprehensive search of the immediate and surrounding areas with assistance from the Reidsville Department of Corrections K-9 unit but were unable to locate the suspect, Turner said.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Detective Keith Holloway at the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911.
