Through the collaborative effort of Bulloch County Health Department, Children’s Medical Services, and Ogeechee Technical College, a health fair was conducted recently at the Boys and Girls Club of Bulloch County.
Fifty students per day from grades six through 12 were provided the service by the sponsoring agencies.  Topics for the health fair included anger management, communication with parents, nutrition, physical exercise, various disease processes, and other important areas of interest.      In addition to the educational aspects of the camp, students enjoyed interactive sessions which included activities such as a hula hoop and jump rope contests.
Jackie Howard, practical nursing instructor from Ogeechee Tech, coordinated the college’s participation in the event.
“This was a great way to help teach younger students about the importance of caring for their health,” Howard said.
According to Howard, interactive activities helped students to become more engaged in the learning process, and helped make the educational aspects of the event fun, as well as informing.
Ogeechee Tech nursing students also participated.
“This was educational for our students as well, and helped them learn more about patient education and community health,” Howard said.
