A man caught in Emanuel County delivering a pound of marijuana voluntarily told drug agents about another pound and a half he had at home, said Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team Inv. Marcus Nesmith.
Richard Keith Lanier, 42, U.S. 80, Portal, was pulled over in Emanuel County on a traffic violation, and agents with East Central Georgia Drug Task Force found about a pound of marijuana they said he was delivering to someone else, Nesmith said.
After being taken into custody, Lanier “of his own free will, told them he had more at home,” he said.
After receiving the information from the task force agents, Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team agents, Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies and a K-9 unit from Statesboro Police Department obtained a search warrant, and went to Lanier's home off U.S. 80 West near Portal, where they located the marijuana, as well as several firearms, he said.
Bulloch County deputies charged Lanier with marijuana possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He also faces additional drug charges in Emanuel County, including marijuana possession with intent to distribute, Nesmith said.
Lanier was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he later posted bond; however, he still faces bond hearings and procedures in Emanuel County, according to Bulloch County Jail records.
