A man found running naked in the parking lot of a local bar early Saturday morning told police he remembered nothing after accepting a drink from an unknown person.
Statesboro Police officers did not arrest the man who was seen streaking in the Platinum Lounge parking lot Saturday. Instead, they took him to the hospital, where he was treated for intoxication, reports said.
Police were called to the bar near Simmons Shopping Center on Proctor Street around 2:41 a.m. Saturday.
According to police reports, the man, who was not identified, was “unresponsive to verbal commands.” He was taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment.
During medical care, the man “became coherent.” He then told officers an unknown person had given him a drink, and he remembered nothing afterwards.
The unidentified man was not charged with any crime, according to reports.
While it was not confirmed that the man’s drink was spiked or tampered with, Statesboro Police Major Scott Brunson warned citizens to be mindful of their surroundings and pay attention to their food and drinks.
“Don’t put your drink down (where someone can tamper with it), and don’t take drinks from strangers,” he said. “Never leave your drink unattended and take drinks only from a bartender.”
