Frances Hooks Humanitarian Award Winner Adrienne Thompson White will be the featured speaker at the 2006 NAACP Bulloch Branch Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday at Snella’s Special Events in Statesboro. This year’s banquet theme is "Valuing our Votes, Voting our Values."
"We are truly honored to have Adrienne Thompson White address our banquet this year," said Carlos Brown, president, NAACP Bulloch Branch. "She is a woman of tremendous fortitude and courage."

White is credited with spurring economic development through establishing strategic partnerships with mainstream and diverse communities. One of her positions was that of Executive on Loan to the Urban League in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She has served as a volunteer at every level within the NAACP Association including local, state, regional and national.
Since 1995, she has been a part of United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM). They have focused their disaster rebuilding and organization efforts in Central America and Africa to repair schools and churches. She has served as co-chair on the board of     The Self Development of People (SDOP) sponsored through the Presbyterian Church as an extension to empower and to encourage entrepreneurship. She has served on the board of The South Carolina HIV/AIDS Consortium, which recruits physicians and secures resources to service a growing population living with HIV/AIDS. She continues to serve as a health educator through the faith based community.
White is a 2003 graduate of Leadership South Carolina and currently serves on the boards of United Way-Imagination Library, The Urban League of the Upstate, Leadership South Carolina Board of Trustees, YMCA Community Advisory and The League of Women Voters.   She is married to the Reverend Charles L.     In this day and age when political, business, and even spiritual leaders avoid the  many who go hungery, attend poorly performing schools and face daunting economic realities; progressive community leaders can derive strength and hope from White, said the Reverend Francys Johnson, chairman State Legal Redress Committee and Chairman of the Martin L. King, Jr. Committee.
