Who will be the 2012 Moments Magazine Goodwill Fashionista?

What does it take to be this year’s Fashionista?  Style, creativity, and a sense of shopping adventure, and that’s exactly what our 2011 winners embodied.

They searched all over the Coastal Empire for the best Goodwill finds and matching pieces to complete their outfits. They learned there are hot times to hit the stores and find that perfect deal. There were fashionistas listening from near and far to the Goodwill call.

But a winner had to be chosen.

Our third-place winner, 4-year-old Sweeden Rose of Statesboro, stole hearts with her one-of-a-kind Goodwill creation.  Her mother, Melissa Rose, bought a teen’s skirt and sewed it into a pillowcase dress.  Every detail of her outfit, with the exception of the ribbons tied at the neck of the dress, was purchased at Goodwill.

Second place went to the lively Ms. Wyomia Timmons in her saucy red dress. Wyomia not only put on a fashion show in the Statesboro Goodwill store with a photo shoot to boot, she delivered the photos to Moments with several options for us to choose. The red dress was selected as it best accentuated her figure while she accessorized it nicely with pearls, always a nice choice for an evening dress.

Taking the grand prize was Laura Frederick, of Springfield. She donned a red pea coat over a white button down blouse paired with black dress pants. She accented this smart business causal ensemble with black Steve Madden wedges, a black handbag, and a black jeweled necklace. The grand total for her outfit was a mere $28. 44. She found all of these items at Goodwill stores and Goodwill Women’s Home Shows. She even had the receipts to prove it!

For all of her hard work and shopping enthusiasm, this mom of four boys was treated to a morning of pampering at Merle Norman Salon then scooted off to Moments photo shoot to grace the cover of our October edition.  She was then given a $100 gift card to enjoy even more bargain hunting at Goodwill.
