Millen men to run across Ga.
Relay proceeds will benefit Wounded Warrior Project
Benning to Gordon Relay Team
This photo, taken at the Fisher House on Fort Gordon after the first Benning to Gordon Relay in 2012, shows the relay team members. Kneeling are Jimmy Brannen (left) and Rick Lane. Standing, from left, are Randy Brannen, Chad Waters, Rob Sharkey and Ray Miller.

Six runners from Millen will raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Fisher House at Fort Gordon.
They plan to run relay style from just outside Fort Benning, near Columbus, to Fort Gordon in Augusta. The total distance is approximately 250 miles.
Last year, they raised $4,123.45 for the Wounded Warrior Project, the Warrior Transition Battalion and the Fisher House at Fort Gordon.
The runners will spend Thursday night, Feb. 27, in Hawkinsville; Friday night, Feb. 28, in Swainsboro; Saturday night, March 1, in Millen; and arrive on Fort Gordon by mid-afternoon on Sunday, March 2.
Their goal is not only to raise funds for Wounded Warriors, but also to raise awareness about the injuries suffered by military men and women while protecting the freedoms that we all enjoy.
The runners are: Ray Miller, Randy Brannen, Jimmy Brannen, Rick Lane, Rob Sharkey and Chad Waters.
The Fisher House is similar to the Ronald McDonald House. Family members of soldiers being treated at Fort Gordon may stay at the Fisher House on post, near the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
The relay is listed on the Wounded Warrior website under the Georgia events button. Go to www.proudsupporterwwp.org/misc/proud-supporter-events, click on Georgia on the map graphic, and the relay is listed there under “Benning to Gordon Relay II.”
The relay team is contacting veterans’ organizations and running clubs to invite members to join them for few miles, help with publicity and perhaps make a donation.
Donations may be mailed to: Benning to Gordon Relay, Queensborough Bank of Millen,
P.O. Box 780, Millen, GA 30442.
For credit card donations, call Dee Dee Miller-Goodwin at (360) 860-0136. You may also find out more about the training and the relay on the team’s Facebook page by searching “Benning to Gordon Relay.”
