A Metter police officer who checked out a suspicious vehicle Wednesday arrested a woman suspected in a burglary.

Early Wednesday morning, Officer Robert English “observed a suspicious vehicle behind a local church in Metter” and decided to investigate, according to a release by Metter police Chief Rob Shore.

English questioned a woman in the vehicle, Violet Song, 23, of Ellabell, and “discovered that Song had entered a shed and removed several hand tools,” he said.

Song was charged with second-degree burglary  and was taken to Candler County Jail.

“The Metter Police Department is committed to being highly visible and preventing crime,” Shore said, praising English.  “Although we did not prevent the crime from occurring, Officer English’s actions detected the crime in progress. Officer English should be praised for his quick actions.”
