Bulloch VOAD and Bulloch EMA are hosting a Shelter presentation featuring Daniel Pitchford on behalf of DHS and ESF-6 with Chris Baker from American Red Cross.
The presentation will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Statesboro First Baptist Church, 101 North Main Street in the multi-purpose room (old fellowship hall). Park in the back. There is another function at the same time in the Perry Fellowship Hall.
Pitchford and Baker are the experts in Georgia on emergency shelters. They will bring us up to speed on shelter operations including Good Samaritan and American Red Cross shelters. This meeting is a great opportunity for anyone involved in sheltering in disasters and for churches and other facilities that may consider opening a shelter in the event of a future disaster.
Representatives from Public Health, GEMA, FEMA, Georgia VOAD, Salvation Army and Lutheran Services of Georgia will be participating also.
This presentation is open to the public. Any churches, civic organizations, businesses or individuals who may be interested in hosting or assisting with emergency shelters in the future are strongly encouraged to attend.
