With the August 10 run-off approaching, Thursday may be the last chance for voters to meet the Republican congressional candidates from Georgia’s 12th district vying to face Congressman John Barrow in November. Candidates Ray McKinney and Carl Smith will headline the Bulloch County GOP’s Pre-Runoff Election Meeting and Congressional Debate to be held at R.J.’s Seafood & Steaks tomorrow evening from 6 – 8 p.m. At the meeting, state representatives in attendance will be given the chance to speak followed by any representatives of other runoff candidates, and then the remainder of the time will be devoted to a debate between Smith and McKinney. Bulloch GOP chairman Lawton Sack said the group is holding the event to spur runoff voting, for which turnout is traditionally poor.
