A man was arrested for reportedly flagging down traffic on Fair Road last week after police said they found him with drugs and a handgun.

Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team members assisted Statesboro police in locating the man, reported as suspicious. Andrew Hughes, 28, of Highway 121 in Millen, "provided conflicting stories as to why he was in the area attempting to flag down traffic," according to reports.

A search revealed prescription pills not in their original container and a handgun in Hughes' vehicle. He was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, arrested on charges of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, failure to have original container for prescription drugs, possession/use of a drug-related object and driving with a suspended license.

Hughes was denied bond and remains in jail pending further judicial action, according to reports.
