While awaiting court in Evans County Monday on child molestation charges, a Claxton man learned he was wanted in Bulloch County on similar charges.
Richard William Foy, 41, of John Todd Road in Claxton, appeared in Evans County court Monday on charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, and two counts of aggravated sexual battery, according to an indictment obtained from the Evans County Clerk of Courts office. The indictment is public record.
Foy was arrested Monday and taken to the Bulloch County Jail on charges of child molestation and aggravated sodomy regarding incidents occurring in Bulloch County, said Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent-in-Charge Cathy Sapp, of the Statesboro office.
Because the Bulloch County case is still under investigation, Sapp could not reveal details on the incident except that the alleged crimes took place within the county.
While Foy was in Evans County court Monday, Statesboro GBI agents requested he be held in jail there until he could be transported to the Bulloch County Jail on charges stemming from the Bulloch County incidents, she said.
Foy was indicted on the Evans County charges in August. His case was to be heard Monday but has now been continued, according to public records obtained from the Evans County Clerk of Courts office. The indictment stated Foy is accused of engaging in improper sexual behavior with a young girl on several occasions at an Evans County location between Jan. 1, 2003, and Dec. 31, 2007. The girl was younger than 10 years old when all the incidents happened, the indictment says.
Foy pleaded not guilty to the Evans County charges in October. Both cases are GBI cases, and GBI Special Agent Cyrus Purdiman is handling both cases, Sapp said.
Foy is being held in the Bulloch County Jail without bond, according to jail records.
