Man charged with child molestation

A boy’s recent disclosure during counseling sessions regarding a long-term series of molestation incidents led to a Newington man’s arrest Wednesday on aggravated child molestation charges and more, said Bulloch County Sheriff’s Investigator Jared Akins.
Jack Bazemore Jr., 39, Simpsontown Road, Newington, is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail on charges of aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, sodomy, child molestation and sexual battery, he said.
The 12 year old boy, related to Bazemore, has been undergoing counseling for some time, and recently shared details of being molested by Bazemore. The molestation took place over a long period of time, occurring at several locations in the Register area, he said.
Upon learning of this disclosure, the boy’s mother contacted the sheriff’s department to file a report, he said.
The charges of aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy in addition to “regular” charges of those crimes are due to certain circumstances and details that cause the crime to be even more heinous, he said.
After speaking with the victim and his mother, Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies located Bazemore, took him into custody
on the charges, and transported him to the jail.
Bazemore awaits a bond hearing in the near future, Akins said.
