Statesboro police arrested a man Monday they said fired a gun next to a victim’s head during an altercation on South Mulberry Street last week.Willie James Brown of Savannah, is being held in the Bulloch County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, with more charges pending form the Statesboro-Bulloch County Crime Suppression team, said Maj. Rob Bryan, interim police chief.Around 9:30 p.m. June 1, officers responded to the victim’s South Mulberry Street residence “after receiving notification that there was possibly a gunshot heard at that location,” he said. “After further investigation, it was reported that a black male (later identified as Brown) pointed a handgun at a victim and discharged it next to the victim’s head.”The victim was uninjured.Statesboro Police Detective Ben Purvis identified Brown, 35, and secured warrants for his arrest. Around 8 a.m. Monday, Statesboro police officers located Brown hiding at a South Mulberry Street home and with help from CST members, took him into custody.
