After an indictment by a Bulloch County Grand Jury earlier this month, a man charged in a rape almost two years ago is behind bars.

Nathaniel Lee Wilcox was arrested Monday in Alpharetta, said Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 5 Special Agent-in-Charge Bill Bodrey.

Wilcox, whose last known address is Vernon Williams Road in Hazlehurst, was indicted May 7 on charges of rape, according to documents procured from the Bulloch County Clerk of Courts office.

Ogeechee Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Catherine Findley told the Statesboro Herald the alleged July 2016 incident occurred in Bulloch County, but due to the case being open and still under investigation, she would not disclose a more specific location.

The indictment, which lists Region 5 GBI Special Agent Charles Sullenger as the prosecutor, stated Wilcox “did have carnal knowledge of” a female victim “fully and forcibly against her will.”

According to the Gwinnett County Clerk of Courts website (gwinettcourts.com), Wilcox, 25, also faced charges in that county in February 2017 for possession, distribution, manufacturing or sale of marijuana/controlled substances and giving false information.

Findley said Wilcox is scheduled for an arraignment in Bulloch County Superior Court June 12.
